Cover details

I tried my best to really dig into the details of the gameplay of this game by recording video of my playing. I originally timed the movements of everything, but they seemed random until I realized that each parachutist spawns the next one when destroyed and the game had a threshold when the second, third, and fourth parachutist would spawn. The timing of the shark patrols and movement of the guys from the sky is accurate, but I adjusted the helicopter rotor speed to feel better to me since it’s just decoration.

I also made sure the player can still move even after the game is lost like the original game worked.

I used an animator for the player in the three possible positions initially, but I ended up opting for a state machine instead because I like the ease of simply checking if the state is correct to catch the falling parachutists.

I really enjoyed pushing the visuals slightly. I wanted a different vibe than the emulator we tested, but with a similar feel. I designed something that felt like it belonged in a cyberpunk world and was worn with the kind of use these LCD games got in real life.
